In general, how does Startnext ensure that the funds raised through a project are used for their intended purpose?

Startnext does not provide funding itself, but rather facilitates support from backers to projects. We review projects as part of our processes (including identity verification/KYC, compliance checks, and plausibility checks). However, the actual implementation of the project and the use of funds are the responsibility of the project creators.

If there are indications of problems, we first assist in resolving them—and, in the event of a dispute, provide information about the rights and obligations under the relevant contracts.

1) What is Startnext's role?

Depending on the type of support, various legal relationships are established through Startnext (e.g., sales contract/service agreement, sponsorship, conditional gift, or designated donation). Startnext acts as the platform/intermediary in these transactions.

2) What checks does Startnext perform?

We check, among other things:

  • Identification/KYC via our payment service provider (legal requirements, including anti-money laundering regulations)
  • Compliance with Startnext guidelines
  • Internal validity checks in our processes

3) Does Startnext review every project submission?

No. We cannot continuously monitor every single expense or the entire project implementation. The responsibility for the appropriate use and implementation lies with the project initiators.

4) What happens if there are indications of misuse?

If there are any complaints or concerns, we, as the intermediary, first help facilitate communication between supporters and project initiators—this resolves many issues.

If a dispute arises, we will notify you

  • Supporters about their rights and possible steps to take, and
  • Participants regarding their obligations under the contracts they have entered into.
