Why does Startnext have such high commissions?

The Startnext team is small (around 20 employees) and efficient, but the technology is complex and has to run securely around the clock. We prefer to provide personal advice and use AI in a targeted manner - if it means we can offer you better service and fast information.

Until October 2025, Startnext relied on voluntary fees from starters and backers as well as external transaction costs. This model brought advantages, but also uncertainties and non-transparent situations - which is why we revised it.

Our new commission model is clear and transparent. It simplifies the processes and excludes supporters from the commission process so that nothing deters them from supporting a project.

In order for Startnext to operate smoothly and sustainably, we currently require an average net commission of 8-9%.

Similar platforms work with comparable amounts. Compared to international platforms, we are around 10-20% higher due to smaller scaling effects if you work with one of our discount codes. We make up for this with personal service and a strong, local community.

We offer a different range of services and are based in the DACH region - that's why we can't and don't want to offer more favorable conditions. You don't choose Startnext because of low commissions, but because you love what we do.

Important: Include the commission in your funding target. Remember, however, that it's not you who pays the commission, but your supporters. Anything that makes your campaign more successful is therefore worth higher commissions.
