Using your own Google Analytics account or Meta Pixel, you can analyze usage of your project page within your own accounts. This helps you compare communication strategies and tailor your advertising campaigns more effectively. This integration is available starting with the Pro plan.
Select the appropriate analysis
| Tool | What you use it for | Where to Find the Results |
|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics 4 (GA4) | Analyze traffic sources and user behavior on your project page | In your Google Analytics account |
| Meta Pixel | Analyze Facebook and Instagram ads, optimize them for engagement, and use retargeting | In your Meta account, including in the Events Manager |
You can use both tools in addition to the page statistics in the Startnext project interface. You don't need a separate Google Analytics account for the page statistics.
Connect Google Analytics to Your Project
To set this up, you'll need the measurement ID for your Google Analytics 4 web data stream. It starts with G-. The data stream is the data source for your project page in Google Analytics.
Find Your Google Analytics Measurement ID
A prerequisite is a set up Google Analytics 4 property with a web data stream. A property is the section of your Google Analytics account where you analyze the data. You need access to this property; Google specifies that you must have at least the “Editor” role.
- Sign in to Google Analytics ↗.
- Select the property at the top where you want to analyze your project page.
- Open "Administration" by clicking the gear icon.
- Under "Data Collection and Modification," go to "Data Streams."
- On the Web tab, select the appropriate web data stream.
- Copy the measurement ID from the stream details. It begins with
G-, for exampleG-XXXXXXXXXX.
Copy the complete measurement ID, including G-—not the numeric property or stream ID, and not the full tracking code.

Register your campaign ID with Startnext
- Open your project in the project interface.
- Go to Communication → Tracking.
- Paste the copied measurement ID into the field for the Google Analytics 4 ID.
Once setup is complete, the data collected from your project page will be sent to your Google Analytics account. There, you can analyze, for example:
- which sources bring people to your project,
- what devices and browsers they use,
- which regions they come from,
- when and how often they visit your project page.
Connect Meta Pixel to your project
To set up the integration, you'll need your Meta Pixel's ID. In Meta Events Manager, it can be displayed as a record ID. A record bundles the events you send to Meta; its ID can be used for the pixel integration.
Find Your Meta Pixel ID
This requires a configured Meta Pixel and access to the corresponding data set in Meta Events Manager.
- Sign up for Meta Events Manager ↗.
- Select the appropriate business account if you have access to more than one.
- Open Data Sources and select the pixel or dataset you want to use for your Startnext project.
- Open the Settings tab.
- Copy the record ID or pixel ID. The ID consists of digits.
Use the ID of the selected pixel or data set, not the advertising account or business account ID. You do not need a full pixel code or a Conversions API access key for this integration.
Haven't set up a pixel yet? Follow the Meta Help guide on creating a pixel ↗. You don't need to install the pixel code yourself on your Startnext project page: Startnext will handle the integration as soon as you enter the ID.
Register your Pixel ID with Startnext
- Open your project in the project interface.
- Go to Communication → Tracking.
- Paste the copied ID into the Meta Pixel ID field.
You can find the tracked events in your Meta account. In addition to page views, you'll receive the following e-commerce events:
| Event | What Is Collected |
|---|---|
| ViewContent | Displaying a thank-you page with the thank-you ID, price, and currency |
| InitiateCheckout | Proceed to checkout with the shopping cart total, currency, and number of items |
| Purchase | Successful Support with Amount and Currency |
This allows you to track which ads lead to donations and how much each donation amounts to. This data helps you evaluate the return on your ads relative to your advertising costs.
Example: You're promoting your project with Instagram ads. With the "Purchase" event, you can analyze which ads lead to donations—rather than just comparing their click-through rates.
Startnext always takes user consent into account and sends only necessary data to Meta.
The Meta Pixel is loaded only if a pixel ID has been stored and visitors have consented to “Marketing.” Consent for “Statistics” alone is not sufficient. Name, email address, and physical address are not transmitted to Meta as event data.
Check whether data is coming in
After setup, check to see if calls and events appear in the respective Google or Meta account. For the Meta Pixel, you can use the test events in Meta Events Manager to do this.
If data is missing, first check:
- Is the correct ID stored in the project?
- Has the required cookie consent been obtained?
- Has the possible delay of up to 24 hours in Google Analytics elapsed?
Without the required consent, the visit will not be recorded. Therefore, the figures do not fully reflect all visits and instances of support.
Difference from personal referral links
Google Analytics and Meta Pixel help you analyze the usage of your project page and your advertising campaigns. Personal referral links attribute page views and support to the person who referred them. They are a standalone feature.
