Some projects raise funds not only for themselves but also for one or more organizations. To do this, you can specify donation recipients in the donation box. When selecting a custom amount, supporters can then choose which organization they’d like to support.
The feature is currently still in the beta phase. So far, it has only been activated by Startnext upon request and is currently available only for Premium projects upon request.
What the feature does
With this feature, you can add up to five donation recipients to your donation box. When selecting a custom donation amount, supporters can then choose which organization they want their donation to go to.
If no donation recipients have been registered, the donation box works as usual.
Terms of Use
Before you can use this feature, you'll need to have it activated by Startnext.
This is necessary at the moment because the feature is still in soft launch, and certain processes related to payouts are currently being fine-tuned. If you’d like to use this feature for your project, please contact the Startnext team before your funding campaign begins.
Where to find the setting
The settings are located in the project interface in the following section:

There, you can manage the donation box for your project and—once it's been activated—also add donation recipients.
Set up donation recipients
Once your account is activated, you can add up to five donation recipients.
For each organization, you enter the information that will be displayed in the donation box. Supporters will then see these organizations directly on your project page and can choose which one they’d like to support when making a donation.
If you list only one organization, no selection is necessary. If you list multiple organizations, supporters can choose specific ones.
Here's how it works for supporters
Supporters can see the donation recipients directly in the donation box on the project page.
- Select an organization.
- Select an amount or enter your own amount.
- The donation will be added to the shopping cart as a separate item.
- Multiple organizations can be combined.
This makes it clear which organization is being supported.
Payouts and Costs
Before the funds are disbursed, payment processing fees and the platform fee are deducted from the donation amount. The deduction is currently approximately 10%. The remaining amount is disbursed.
Since the feature is still in the beta phase, costs and behavior may vary depending on the project.
Important Information About the Current Beta
At this time, you should only use this feature if the activation and expiration have been coordinated with Startnext in advance.
This is especially true when
- several organizations are involved
- Communication regarding donations and recipients must be carefully coordinated
- you plan to include the feature publicly in your campaign
When to Use This Feature
This feature is especially useful if your project
- works with several organizations
- is intended to direct voluntary support specifically to certain organizations
- wants to make it clear who benefits from a donation
