You can support a project on Startnext for free (without receiving anything in return) or in exchange for a reward. The minimum donation is €5. You can pay via PayPal, direct debit, credit card, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.
How can I support a project?
- Open Support: You contribute an amount without selecting a thank-you gift. For nonprofit projects, this is equivalent to a donation.
- With a reward (thank-you gift): You choose a thank-you gift and contribute the corresponding amount.
- Combined: You can combine general support with thank-you gifts and select multiple thank-you gifts.

Is there a minimum amount for financial assistance?
Yes. The minimum donation amount is €5. This applies to both general donations and thank-you gifts.
Are there limits for each payment method?
Yes. Depending on the method, there are different maximum amounts (amounts include tax):
- Direct debit: up to €5,000
- Credit card: up to €25,000
- PayPal: up to €25,000
- Apple Pay: up to €11,000
- Google Pay: up to €11,000 (mobile)
What happens after I pay?
The full amount will not be charged immediately after you make your contribution. Your payment will first be reserved (depending on your payment method, a $0 authorization or a small reservation may appear for verification purposes). The contribution amount is usually not charged until after the funding period ends, once the project has been successfully completed. You will then receive an email regarding the charge.
Who handles the payment?
Payments on Startnext are processed by Stripe, a PCI-certified payment service provider authorized by BaFin.
