To verify your organization with Stripe, you'll need an official document that includes your organization's name and address (and ideally its tax ID or registration number).
Which documents work well in practice?
Depending on the club or status, the following are typically suitable:
- Letter from the tax office stating the association's name and tax ID number
- Certificate of Exemption (for Nonprofit Organizations)
- Extract (current copy) from the Register of Associations (VR number), e.g., via https://www.handelsregister.de/
If you don't have a registry entry
If your organization is not (yet) registered or you do not have a registration number, Stripe may also accept an official document that clearly shows the organization’s name and address (e.g., a letter from the tax office).
Other alternatives (depending on the country or specific case)
Depending on the country and context, Stripe also accepts, among other things:
- Articles of Incorporation for a Nonprofit Organization
- Registration document for partnerships (e.g., GewA 1)
- an official document certifying, for example, a tax exemption
- Bank statement
- Utility Bill
Important (so Stripe can match it)
Make sure the information in the document matches the details you entered in Stripe:
- Club name (spelling)
- Address
- (if available) VR number or tax ID number
