Your Project Team: Invite and Manage Members

We recommend that you work on your project as a team—teams are, on average, more successful. As the project initiator, you can invite team members via email and collaborate with them in the project interface. Your team is automatically created as soon as you create your project; you’ll already be a member as the project owner.

How do I invite someone to join my team?

You can invite new members directly in Team Management.

  1. 1Open your project interface (the gear icon in the lower-left corner of the project page).
  2. 2Go to Team.
  3. 3Start the invitation. The dialog box will guide you through two steps:
  4. 4Send the invitation.

The invited person will receive an invitation link via email and can use it to accept or decline the invitation.

What if the person doesn't have a Startnext account yet?

No problem: You don't need an existing account to receive or accept an invitation.

Using the invitation link, the person can view your project page—even if your project is still a draft—and accept the invitation as a guest without a password. An account is created automatically during this process. Anyone who already has an account can accept with a single click.

The person you invited can accept the invitation using a Startnext profile other than the email address to which you sent the invitation. However, each invitation link is valid only once and can be used by only one person.

For security and privacy reasons, the invitation link is valid for only 48 hours. If it expires, you can simply resend the invitation.

How many team members can I have?

The number of people on your team depends on your product plan:

  • Basic: up to 3 spots total (you as the starter + 2 others)
  • Pros: Up to 5 seats total (you + 4 others)
  • Premium and above: unlimited

You can invite multiple people, as long as you stay within your available slots.

How do I manage pending invitations?

In Team Management, you can see the current status of each invitation: pending, accepted, declined, or expired. There, you have three options:

  • Resend: for example, if the link has expired or there was no response.
  • Withdraw: Revoke an invitation that is still open.
  • Hide: Remove completed entries from the list to keep track of everything.

You can also see here how many invitation slots you have left according to the plan.

How do I remove a member?

You can also remove a team member in Team Management: Open the team, select the member, and remove them. This frees up the spot, which can then be reassigned.

Once your project is public, accepted team members will be displayed on your project page with their photo and name. If you remove someone, that person will no longer appear there.

Who is allowed to invite people?

As a starter (project owner), you can invite and remove team members and use the team management features.

Team members actively contribute to the project interface—for example, by working on project content, thank-you messages, blog posts, and email campaigns. Some areas are reserved exclusively for you: the contract and verification, deleting the project, and visibility settings.

When I'm loading the page, I see "Ambassador" and "Insider" listed as coming soon—what are those?

These are two new roles we're currently setting up. They're already displayed in the invitation dialog, but they're not active yet—right now, you can only assign the "Team Member" role.

  • Ambassador (coming soon): Share your project via a personal link, earn a commission for it, and display the role on your profile.
  • Insider (coming soon): You'll get to see your project in its early stages, provide feedback, and enjoy benefits like early-bird prices.

The feature will be enabled by the end of August 2026.
