Overview
Multilingual support on Startnext means that you manage your project in a source language (your default language). You can also enable translation languages. Startnext will then automatically generate AI translations for visitors.
Enable multilingual support
How can I offer my project in more than one language?
1 Select source language
- 1Open Project Management: Project Interface → Project Information
- 2Go to the Languages section
- 3Select the original language of your project
The source language is the language in which you edit content and serves as the default for your project page. All other languages are derived from it.
Add or remove 2 translation languages
- In the Languages section, add any additional languages in which you want your project to be displayed.
- Remove languages if you no longer want to offer them.
How many languages are supported?
The maximum number of languages you can activate depends on your product plan:
- Level: 2 languages
- Pros: 4 languages
- Premium and Enterprise: 6 languages
If you need more languages than your plan allows, you'll need to upgrade.
Which languages are available?
- Arabic
- Bulgarian
- Danish
- German
- English
- Estonian
- Finnish
- French
- Greek
- Italian
- Latvian
- Lithuanian
- Dutch
- Polish
- Portuguese
- Romanian
- Russian
- Swedish
- Slovak
- Slovenian
- Spanish
- Czech
- Turkish
- Ukrainian
- Hungarian
What is being translated?
When you enable translation languages, the following content, among other things, will be automatically translated:
- Project titles and descriptions
- Blog posts
- "Thank You" Titles and "Thank You" Descriptions (including variations)
What is not translated?
Currently (as of May 7, 2026), only your own project content is being translated.
- The system texts are currently available only in German or English. If the project is displayed in a language other than German, the English system texts will be used.
- Bulletin board posts cannot be translated yet
When are translations updated?
- When you enable or change languages, a translation is triggered.
- Any changes made to a project or thank-you message (title, description, variants) will automatically trigger a synchronization of the translations.
- If you change the default language, existing translations will be reset and rebuilt.
AI translations
We translate the texts using DeepL. We also use a glossary and context specific to crowdfunding.
AI translations aren't perfect and may be inaccurate or inappropriate in some cases. We're constantly improving our translation service, and in the future, you'll be able to provide project-specific context (such as tone of voice or your own glossary).
It is not possible to edit the translated texts individually. You can only edit the original language.
What happens if a translation can't be loaded?
If a translation fails to load, an error message appears. The original title and content remain visible.
Feedback on translations
If you notice a translation that needs to be corrected, use the feedback feature in the project by clicking the “AI Translations” button. That way, we can assign your feedback directly to the correct project and language.
SEO & Project Links
- The selected language is retained when navigating within the project (the router passes the
?langparameter). - You can share your project page in one of the available languages by
- Open the page in that language and copy the link
- even the parameter
?lang=with the language code to the link, e.g., startnext.com/my-project?lang=fr - For projects with active translation languages,
\<link rel="alternate" hreflang="..."\>. This helps search engines deliver the appropriate language versions.
